»I felt my hopes fall considerably and i screwed my nose up with irritance, feeling slightly let down about the fact that Nate wasn't boarding in the same dorm as me. Stupid school. Although he was in the Dorm next to mine, which was better than him being on the other side of campus i guess. Damn, i'm in dorm two. That sucks. I'll have to go all Ninja like and sneak over to visit you after dark. i laughed a little at the thought of myself lurking behind trees and walls and climbing through windows. A very girly thing to do. Could be slightly stalkerish, but provided my victim was up for the midnight adventures, it would be plenty of fun. Being in Nate's company reminded me of Kindergarten. When you'd just meet a kid and a few moments later you would be playing together as if you had known each other for an entire lifetime. The thought eased my annoyance at the difference in Dorm rooms considerably.
»I really hoped that he hadn't caught me watching him, i was confident that he'd missed it, for he seemed totally unaware in continueing to laze on the sand. When i jumped on him i felt his hands fall to my waist once more, the gesture seeming to be more a habbit than accident or coincidence. I managed to wiggle my way out of his gentle grip almost as soon as he obtained it. Not that i wasn't enjoying his warm hands on my bare skin, even considering how alien the physical contact felt to me. and rolled down the beach. I hadn't expected him to join in the game, but the fact that he did made it all the more exciting. His voice was lower than it had been the last time he'd spoken. We're all a little mad aren't we? i smiled, feeling his hand slide to my neck causing me to shiver a little. I quickly rose to my feet and as i tottered around, completely absorbed in my sandy creation, i was only distantly aware of his eyes following my movements.
»I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the look of pure horror that crossed his face once he realised what i was doing and saw potentially, how it would end. I gave chase, creeping on my tippy toes when he hastily stepped a few paces back, putting as much distance between the mud pie and himself. His attempts to evactuate from the situation had all been in vein. I quickly approached him, only to be blocked by his strong grip around my wrists. my jaw dropped as i was extremely offending at him interfering with my practical joke. Try as i might i couldn't find any possible way to get the sand ball close enough to him to reach his face, bare chest or anything else for that matter. A small amount spilled from the edge of the pie and dribbled onto Nate's foot. I giggled once, a look of extreme satisfaction and achievement crossing my face.
»I completely missed the movement he made with his leg, wouldn't have acknowledged it at all if it wasn't for the cool, grainy feeling of wet sand and mud smearing up the length of my leg. I didn't jump back. Or struggle from his grip. I simply stared at him with my mouth in a giant O shape, gripped by false disbelief. Now that was completely uncalled for. I sighed then, feigning dismay and pushed back away from Nate, wriggling out of his grip. Guess there's only one thing left to do now.. I spoke the words as if they were meant for only my own hears to hear, although i knew they were audible enough for Nate to make sense of them. I broke the ball of sand in half, looking at the pieces, one in each hand for sevveral seconds. Before looking up at Nate with a micheivious grin on my face and raised my hands slightly before smeaaring the ball all over my face. I cringed when i blinked and multiple grains of the sand scratched my eyes before running forward a few steps and jumping onto Nate, straddling him as if in a backwards piggy back. My arms around his neck i proceeded to rub my face all over his neck and shoulder, transfering a considerable amount of the mud pie from myself to him. Never challenge a girl, you'll always lose! a laughed, leaning back so i could look into his face to examine his expression.

Did you go by yourself? i've never been on a pklane by myself. i reckon it would be Uber scary when you get off at the airport and don't know where you're meant to go! Although, you're probably not as much of an airhead as me, and are probably capable of surviving on your own Gee i love this thread (:

The image of Winter sneaking in through his dorm window was one he hoped stayed ingrained in his mind forever and ever. Because it was an image that could make him laugh in any situation. It was also very possible, seeing as he had a first floor dorm room and there were no pesky bushes underneath the window. A thought to consider, for sure. He had wanted to keep his hands on her for a little longer when she was sitting on him, which sounded weird, but tell it like it is. But she was just a ball of fun. Her answer to his decleration of her crazy just made him all the more certain of her state of detatched mind. And yet, he agreed with a grin. Everyone was a little mad-the truest statement ever made, in his opinion. At least so far. After all, he hadnt exactly studied Socrates and Einstein, so they could have said something truer and he would have never known. Isnt life beautiful? And then she was up again, and down to the shore. He couldnt help but notice how covered in sand they both were-it was absolutly filthy and wonderful.
She looked pleased at his horror, which was something that Nate didnt really appreciate. But his locked elbows were very constructive in keeping the Thing away from contact with him, except the splodge on his foot, which he quickly got rid of. His face was an irrepressible grin when he saw the look on Winter's face-that perfect little 'o' of a mouth, with wide, shocked eyes. He knew then and there that this was not over, so when she started to wriggle out of his grip at first he held tighter, but then he realized she was backing away from him. He hesitantly loosened up so she could break free, but watched her warily, like a spooked horse that could tear away at any moment. It was an understatement to say that her words put him on his toes. Now it was his turn for his jaw to drop through the ground when she slapped the sand onto her own face. It was something he never expected her or any other human being to ever do. Why would anyone do that to themselves? She was the most devious, crazy, amazing, beautiful person he had ever met in his entire life.
He didnt even have time to retreat-he was still so shocked when she leapt onto him like a freaking panther attacking a deer. Her legs locked around his back so he instinctively wrapped one arm around her back to support her. She proceeded to dislodge the Thing onto his neck and part of his shoulder, and he danced around on the spot, going closer to the water so it lapped on his feet, but not all the way in. He couldnt just drop her, but he didnt know how to escape the grip of death she had on him. And then she was done, and she leaned back to look at him, gleeful in her triumph. There was not a look of shock that could match the one currently plastered onto Nate's face. He just looked at her for a moment, stunned to silence. He glanced back down to the sticky sand on his shoulder and then up to Winter again. I'll definetly remember that, even though I cant think of anyone else who would ever go to such lengths. He still had a grin of disbeleif on his face but he was over the initial shock.
He reached up his free hand and brushed some of the sand off of her face again, since it was in her eyes and was dangerously close to getting in her mouth. His thumb brushed across her lips, dislodging any sand grains who had dastardly plans to try and do such a thing. His glance went from her lips to her eyes, wishing there were less opportunities for him to kiss her. But then again he could have kissed her at any time, and he was refusing. He broke out in a grin, to lessen any tension he may have and almost certainly had caused, and walked into the surf, still holding onto her. When they were in water up to his waist, he sunk down until it was up to both of their necks and gave her a mischevious look. But seriously. Do you belong to a mental institution? Cause I think your curfew is over. He dunked her in the water and went under himself, opening his eyes and waving at her as he scrubbed all the sand off of himself and surfaced.
Wanna go back? He asked, a little reluctantly. They both needed a better clean than the ocean could afford them, and he had the pool showers in mind, but she could go to her dorm and shower too, which would make a little more sense since they both needed real showers anyway. Unless there was shampoo at the pool. We can get cleaned up better and then go see what havoc we can cause in a coffee shop? He didnt divulge his ideas for cleaning up just yet, he'd ask her when they were walking up the beach, to make it a less creepy, spur of the moment idea. He did that a lot. Planned to make things spontaneous. But hey, he needed to have that skill in his arsenal-it had halped him in so many situations.
words: 917 ooc | I was there two weeks, and yeah by myself. But its better that way haha. That was my first time on a plane as well, but it wasnt so bad. It was sort of like driving on a highway you dont know, but there were lots of signs, so you knew where you were headed. I have a low level of self-capability, so I was pretty sure I would miss my plane but the worst thing I did was almost lose my ID. I love this thread too. Its fairly amazing.

It took me a second to break free from the death grip Nate had around my wrists. I felt slightly helpless in my failed attempts until he released my arm and let me loose. I would have rubbed my wrists a little to ease the momentary sting the contact had left behind. But, having an evil scheme to fulfil I continued on my way to plaster my face with wet sand. I was more than aware of how ridiculous I must have looked at this point, barely able to see out of my eyes due to the mass clogging of them. Although I still managed to make my advance on the boy without missing and flying straight past him to face plant on the ground. Now that would be more than embarassing. Undoubtedly.
Despite the shock that Nate must have been feeling at the sudden charge I'd just made at him he still managed to catch me when I jumped. A short wave of relief washed over me at not having been dropped. He squirmed and wiggled and danced around in a desperate attempt to escape the transfer of mud. Apparantly it hadn't occured to him that if he put me down I would have more trouble doing such a thing. When I leaned back to examine his face I was welcomed by such a great look of shock and disbelief that I momentarily lost all control of my body, throwing my head back and laughing. For a brief moment I wondered if I would ever be able to walk again considering how jeloid and senseless my legs, arms and every other limb in my body was. Sure enough I soon regained a small level of self control and sat with a smug grin plastered on my sandy face.
I didn't miss the subtle movements he made to remove a bit of the sand from my face, and the curious way his eyes moved back and forth from my lips to my eyes. But unlike last time, in the water with Rye, I chose to ignore the gesture, placing the thought at the back of my mind where I could dig it back up later if I felt it was necessary. It made me smile to think that I was already making memories with this boy. This was a day I hoped never to forget. We were moving now, back down towards the water. oh I escaped when they were sleeping. perhaps I did belong in an institute, but not today. Today I felt like a kid again, carefree, and happy. I laughed at his cute little under water waves, cringing at the intake of bitter salt water that was the result of lapsing into hysterics whilst submeged under the surface.
I wrapped my arms hastily around myself as we walked out of the water again. The light breeze felt like an arctic blizzard when it came in contact with my wet skin. My hair was dripping down my back at this stage aswell, making the situation seem all the more unbearable. I leaned forward a little, standing just out of the waters reach, and wrang out my hair in the shore, watching with little interest as the water soaked into the damp ground underneath my feet. I was aware that I'd begun to shiver involunarily. a coffee shop? What havoc could we possibly cause in a place like that? I joked. Although the whole while i was stressing over what would happen if we did head over to a cafe only to be confronted with my own face plastered across the windows accompanied with the word 'MISSING'. Of course; there was nothing to say that the signs were even in the area. I hadn't seen them for a while, maybe mum had given up looking, and had accepted the fact that I would come home when I was ready. Not that that would be any time soon of course.
I shook my head to rid myself of my paranoia. if that's what you lot do around here for fun, then I'm keen. Don't have any better ideas. by this stage I was aware our time here on the beach was drawing to a close, which annoyed me a little. I'd never been one to accept that all great things must come to an end. My thoughts wandered to Rye, Nate would surely have to to tend to the horse soon. I wouldn't have him putting the trusty palomi I second best at my expense. I was still shivering, though more violently now, I looked myself up and down, then did the same to Nate before giggling and pointing at us. We look like drowned rats!

Okay, so his heart may have skipped a few happy beats when she leaned her head back and laughed like a maniac, but he wasnt a mushy guy who got all caught up with simple moments. Well. So far anyway. She just looked so beautiful when she laughed, like a burden had been thrown off for just that moment and she was free. Yeah...he could be reading into something a little more than he should have with someone that he had just met a matter of hours before. But he was a totally unrealistic and imaginary person so 'norm' was not a quirky abbreviation that could be applied to him. He noticed her lack of reaction to his hand upon her face, but he didnt let it perturb him. Girls didnt like to be toyed with, and he had already let her down once, but he felt like he had made the right decision with that. Glancing down the beach he saw that Rye had dissapeared, and was probably at his stall, or someone had already let him in.
Ah hah! I knew it. He chuckled, amazed at the amount of witty banter that they could throw at each other. Regardless of what people say, it takes intelligence, humor, and a good fun spirit to be witty at all. He had known girls who couldnt hardly spell their own name and were only interested in one thing-and yes, it was the one thing that parents tell their daughters all boys are after. That was the most clever parental ploy he had ever encountered, because for a little while the girls werent sure what that thing was, and were always wary. And then when they knew, they either hunted boys like prey or refused most advances. But he was getting off topic and he didnt want to be caught reminiscing about weird other girls when there was an amazing girl right in front of him-a girl that he wasnt only interested in for that one reason. It was a rarity for him, the flirt and downright man-whore of campus, but he wanted to change. If he could.
As they stood up and got out of the water he noticed her shivering. She got all the water off of her hair but that wasnt going to help very much. He was rather surprised at her question-what havoc could be caused in a coffee shop? Well. Firstly there's the chocolate syrup dispenser. That thing is a maniac. Also sugar packets. You can pretend youre snorting crack and then wobble around and breathe on people-it ticks them off. Seriously. He smiled, remembering the good times he had had in seventh grade with his buddy back home-good ole Cole is what he called him. They got in the most trouble anyone had ever seen. Their mishaps was partly what got him shipped out to Arrowfield and though he was sad to leave his friend he was happy to be here with Rye. That was the compromise, actually-he would get a horse if he went quietly and didnt try to run away from the boarding school. So he was trying it out, and so far for a few years it had worked.
He grinned at her way of agreeing-he had rarely heard the word 'keen' used so wonderfully in a real sentence. Well then peachy keen and fine wine. He agreed right back, mostly to draw attention to her skillful word choice. He looked himself up and down and then looked her up and down, spending a little more time looking at her, before he laughed. Or very wet chihuauas. Basically the same thing. He ran up and grabbed her shirt from the beach and wrapped it around her shoulders, putting his arm over it as well and drawing her closer to him. Warmer now? He asked teasingly. She had been shivering like the glacier that brought down the Titanic was huddled up against her back. He picked up her other clothes and folded them up, carrying them for her as they headed back. words: status: incomplete. Gotta go to ze barn. ooc | You may indeed ask such a question if I may redirect it at you. I'm 16, in fact, independant enough to drive and yet not quite able to legally do many things. Sad day. You earn my undying gratitude for having the patience to post with an iTouch. Dont ever expect me to do that. x) And its not super crappy I promise. [/blockquote]

I smiled softly at the small look of surprise that crossed Nate's face for a second after I questioned the possible joys we could find at a coffee shop. Other than the obvious, stuffing our faces with chocolate cake and warm frothy drinks, staring at randoms until they questioned your motive and rowdy behaviour that results in your own relocation from the shop, there weren't many things we could get up to that I could think of. I was silent for a moment, a look of disbelief on my face once he spoke his plans for the cafe, before I giggled a little. I must say, I've never sniffed sugar crack before. You'll have to teach me how so that I can atleast look half as believable as you do! he was an interesting boy. I'd always been a bit of a people watcher, enjoying sitting by myself in a park or on the beach just watching people walk past. Taking note of their expressions and reactions to their surroundings. But so far Nate was unlike any other teenage boy I'd seen. Although not in a blatanly obvious way. It was more, under the surface. Tiny details that most people ignore, so I had the feeling there was much more to this boy than he let on.
I'd never much thought of myself as a chuhaua before. Those little ankle biters were the most annoying of dogs. Always yapping and running around like someone had made them king. Plus, their heads were far too big for their bodies. The thought made me laugh, i nodded my response to Nate. I watched silently, my arms still clutching my body as if to keep whatever warmth present within my embrace, as Nate dashed up the shore to where I'd left my clothes. He made running in the wet sand look effortless. I smiled my thanks as he put my shirt over my shoulders, shivering at the damp heat of his arm on top of the dry material. I wondered if be was cold too, if that was the case he was doing a Considerable job of hiding it. I put my arm around his back, curling my fingers around his waist and steered us in the direction that Rye had gone. It wasn't an intimate gesture, more a friendly one if anything. I tilted my head up to look at his face while we walked. you know what? I think we could definately do with a shower before we go on this adventure. We don't want everyone tothink we're crack sniffers AND hobos now do we? I thought of the warm water of the shower in my dorm room and shivered again, eager to be there evendespite the fun I'd had with Nate and Rye.

Nate grinned, tightening his hold around her shoulders in a comforting squeeze. He bent his head down and knocked his forehead gently against hers, as if confiding in her. The trick is, you have to open your eyes really wide and prentend like everything is in Dora the Explorer land. And always be wary of Sniper. They walked on the cooling sand as the sun began to slowly bloody the horizon into shocking hues of pink, orange, and crimson. It felt very natural to be here with her, her hand curled gently around his waist. He hadnt been too horribly cold, even with the receding sun and freezing water that dripped from him, but as he leaned into Winter, he realized that the potential to be warmer was much better than being mildly chilled. It was like being asked the question, 'Do you want a hot fudge sunday with a lovely marachino cherry on top, or are you okay with vanilla?' and having never tasted the hot fudge sunday, you're a little hesitant, but in the end, the reward outweighs the risk ten thousand to one, at the least.
At her suggestion of showering, he blinked his eyes a little in surprise, in awe that she could either read his mind or was tuned into the same frequency as he was. Well....dont the two usually go hand in hand? I mean, a dedicated crack sniffer is bound to become a hobo someday, dont you think? He grinned, but he definetly agreed. The sand was creeping up his feet and he could still feel the remainder of the sand they had accumulated before, because salt water is not meant for washing in. He decided that, even though he thought a pool shower sounded delightful, there would be time for that later. Hopefully. And he felt bad about leaving Rye all by himself because the horse had done a wonderful job today, not only in behaviour wise but he had helped make Nate's life substantially better. So he would give himself and Rye a shower at the barn, which would be fine.
Hey, how bout this-you go up to your dorm and get a nice warm shower and get into clean clothes and Im going to head to the barn and give Rye a linimint bath and just shower down there-I have a pair of clean clothes that I left there when I went to the beach. Then we can meet up and go somewhere. He smiled and rubbed her shoulder gently. He wondered how late they would be out-and he couldnt wait. He had a car. They could go places.

I blinked twice when Nate knocked his head against mine, more out of false stupidity, and gave him a look that plainly said 'if my head wasn't hollow, that would have hurt'. Before i laughed and opened my eyes as wide as i possibly could. Hey have you ever heard of that guy in the guines book of world records who could pop his eyes completely out of his head? i wish i could do that. That would be amazing. I then proceeded to continuously attempt to bulge my eyes from their sockets, although i was almost completely certainly i was failing dismally. Of course, the concept of being able to do such a thing intrigued me, but realistically it was a trick that would rarely be used, save for scaring off over-friendly boys or children. I smiled inwardly at the thoughts, noticing the contemplative expression plastered across Nate's face. He appeared to be lost in some thought of his own, so i laughed silently and faced my head to the ground, watching the similarly sized indents our feet were leaving in the sand and not missing the deep little hald circle shapes of Rye's hooveswhere he'd zigzagged across the beach on his way to the stable.
I listened intently at Nate's suggestions for showering and then meeting up again for another adventure. My smile was answer enough, of course i was agreeing without hesitation. This business of friends was better than i could ever remember it being and i hoped the feeling wasn't one that would pass to quickly. Sounds good Dork boy. Do you drive? You can come kidnap me from my Dorm when you're ready. I'll have a blindfold handy so you can be quick about it. once i finished my sentence i realised how completely inappropriate it had sounded and stared blankly for a minute before bursting into a high spirited, excited laugh. Hysterics were a strong point of mine today, I guess i was one to laugh at my own jokes, but that could be fun, always.
I was aware that the small, worn trail leading up through the sand dunes scattered with spikey sharp brambles and ocean plants was just up ahead. Although it wasn't a path that had been intended for official access to the beach it was a convenient short cut to the dorms. The stables were up just a little further and for a moment i considered walking the rest of the way with Nate. But the thought of a warm shower and clean clothes was much too appealing. I slowed my walking, dropping my hand from Nate's waist and turning to face him. Well, this is my stop. I said in a sing song voice, imitating a movie quote i'd heard someone before. I leaned forward to briefly embrace Nate in a friendly hug before turning and wandering in the general direction of the well hidden path. I looked back once, flashing a toothy grin and waving just once before wrapping my arms around myself and disappearing into the greenery.

He almost died from asphyxiation and laughter when she tried to pop her eyes out of their intended place. She was possibly the most similar person to himself that he had ever met. It was quite thrilling, if he did say so himself. I dont think that eyes are really supposed to do that. He offered as a condolance. As they walked he tried his best not to trip her, and yet at the same time definetly wanted to. But he would be a gentleman and let the lady stand on her own two feet. Her suggestion that he kidnap her from her dorm was one that he would not very easily pass up. He didnt care how weird it sounded when she said it. In his eyes, things were only awkward if you made them awkward. It takes a truly uninhibited person to be non-awkward in all circumstances, and he hoped that Winter and he could be such a pair of people. Will do, govna, and yes indeed I drive. Shall I bring some duct tape or will you come quietly, pretending all the way that its a surprise birthday party, and not a kidnapping that includes ransom? He laughed with her.
Nate noticed the pathway approaching and saw her eyes drawn to it as well, a sad sort of longing pulling at his heartstrings. He had been with this girl for only two hours or so, and already he was loathe to part with her. It was only for a little while, he told himself. Her hand slipped from around his body and he felt cold without it. He gave her a smile that showed his bittersweet emotions at her leaving and opened his arms to recieve her hug. His hands splayed across her back and he pulled her close for that moment, and gave her a breif kiss on the cheek, and even then he felt like he was moving too fast. Wow. Moving too fast. Now there was a revolutionary concept in the making. Bye He called quietly as she turned to grin at him. He waved and then continued down the beach a little ways until he reached the path to the stable.
He tried to pick out Rye's hoof prints from the jumble of other ones and only managed to find a few with the distinct print of his special shoes. When he got up to the barn he checked Rye's stall and found it empty so he went on to the arena. There, in the deserted flatwork arena stood his palomino, covered from head to toe in dirt, standing forlornly with his head to the ground, looking horribly worn out. It was possibly the most pathetic sight he had seen all day, and he felt a little guilty that he hadnt walked Rye home and given him a bath immediatly. Nate gave his horse a sympathetic smile and clucked to him. Underneath heavy lidded eyes, Rye whickered to him, and picked up his head to greet his boy at the gate. Kissing the golden nose, pulled the lead rope from around his neck and led him out, first to the laundry room to grab two towels and then to the wash rack. Slinging the fluffy towels over the rack, he hooked up Rye to the crossties, throwing the lead rope off to the side and rummaging through the basket for a sponge to clean off his horse's face, which had sweat marks running from his ears to his nose from their numerous gallops and swims.
The horse came first, so when he turned on the warm water he let it sluice over Rye's back, causing rivulets of mud to run across his coat and down to the drain. He took about ten minutes to thoroughly wash him, getting all traces of dirt and salt and sweat off of his tired body. He added some liniment to a bucket and poured that over Rye as well, to soothe his sore muscles. He then proceeded to run the water over himself, deciding not to take off the swim trunks, due to fact the barn had not officially closed yet and there would still be the possibility of some unsuspecting person getting flashed by him unintentionally. And then he would be expelled and he'd never see Winter again and his life would spiral downward into a terrible and depressing black hole. So the trunks stayed on. He poured the remaining liniment over himself as well, partially because he liked the smell and partially because his muscles needed soothing too. He used the horse shampoo to get all the sand out of his hair, taking care to get all the sand out of his hair.
He toweled off himself first, and then Rye, until they were both positively dry. He went to his locker and pulled out the clean clothes he had left and pulled them on quickly, to avoid the flasher scenario. His swimsuit he left; he'd probably get it in a day or two. He also grabbed a few cookies for the horse. He led the tired palomino back to his stall, and as soon as the halter came off, Rye turned a circle in his stall and settled in the soft fresh shavings with a loud, throaty sigh of contentement. Nate chuckled and sat down beside him, offering the cookies, which he took without opening his eyes. As Nate stood to leave, Rye stretched out his full length on his side, utterly exhausted. Nate grinned. He wouldnt ride tomorrow, for sure. But he would probably come out and chill with the horse, who would probably be very interested in spending the day laying down. He loved to take Rye out into the fields under the slight cover of trees and lay with him, his head agaisnt the horse's back. Kind of like in Seabiscut, when the jockey and the horse were recouperating, only Nate and Rye didnt really have anything to recouperate from, they were just lazy and liked sleeping. With that done, he began to make his way up to the dorm. He pulled his car around and parked, jumping on the hood to wait.
word count. 1032 ooc | chaaa it was like the chillest thing. Haha. You totally should and we totally will. Plus we'll have to add flair. You know, like tire tracks here, a Tonka truck there. Like a mystery. *ooh* Ps I live in the midwest of da United States. Forgive my ambiguity, but I am not one for full disclosure Unless you are a dog or perhaps unless you are an illiterate mute. Then I could tell you everything. Only it would have to be in person, due to fact, you would be illiterate. Yes. I am an odd one.
