» Jessie gulped, they were now far from the dorm. She quickly glanced around her, checking. Nope, no one around. Perfect. She clamped her hands together behind her back, sketchpad dangling from the fingers of her left hand. She chewed on her lip, eyes flitting back and forth around her in all directions. Still no one. She growled, teeth slicing her lip open under their harsh pressure. Jessie didn't notice. All her attention was focusing on calming herself, on stopping her insistent trembling. Theo's voice broke her concentration, causing her to snap her head up to look at him. She lowered it again, but not so that she was hiding under her hair anymore.
» She gave him a slight nod, "Mmm, that's cool. All the more reason to help you learn then." She grinned this time, unperturbed by the small trickle of blood across her lips.
» Satisfied, she followed him into the stables, peering around his shoulder at the long aisle. She couldn't hear anything except his and her breathing. It was then she noticed the rather fast, uneven breathing. At first she wondered where it was coming from. A horse having just been exercised? But then, it was too quiet to be a horse, and she couldn't hear any rustling in the stalls they passed. It only took her seconds then to realize it was her. Her breath hitched, before she forced it to calm down.
"Yea, I'm in Art A...you?"

Theo watched Jesse out of the corner of his eye-he wasnt going to lie, she looked like she was having a panic attack or hyperventilating or something. When he did talk she looked up so fast that he worried she might get whiplash. At least then she started talking a little bit, but it didnt help because she began to breathe a in rapid bursts, like she was winded. Previous thoughts he had been having about her possibly having a troubled past began to resurface, though he didnt want to jump to conclusions. What could make her so anxious and -he almost wanted to say- frightened? She looked like a cornered animal, a feeling he knew about. His concerned glances became more frequent as she continued to remain silent during their walk. When she answered his question he began Hey, me t- But cut off suddenly when he looked at her agian.
There was a crimson trail of blood running down her lip and onto her chin-it looked like she had bitten a deep slice into her own mouth. Your lip is bleeding! He exclaimed, on a rampage to state the obvious. He was only wearing his sleeping clothes, otherwise he would have a tissue or something in his pocket. Um, there's nothing really to clean it wi- Ah hah! He had spotted a tissue box. He reached over to the wall and pulled one out, folding it over and turning back to Jessie. He hesitantly leaned forward, not wanting to overstep any boundaries here. He placed one hand under her chin, lifting it so he could see the injury, and then he gently dabbed the blood away, a bit startled by the amount. He touched the tissue to her lip, realizing that his eyes were fixated upon them and that his face was very close to hers.
He moved the tissue away from her lip but his hand remained under her chin, and his other hand close to her face. His eyes flickered from her lips to her eyes and then back again. He leaned forward and gently kissed her lower lip, tasting the sweetness for one infinite moment, and then he was two feet away, looking at her cautiously. He had just met this girl less than twenty minutes ago. He was not the guy who did this-he didnt even know what this was! Now his own breath was a little ragged as he stared at her, unsure of what to think. This was moving a little fast, he thought, but he knew on the inside if she kissed him back he wouldnt hesitate.

» With some difficulty, Jessie held still, for once not ducking underneath her hair. He was looking at her again. For what reason, she didn't know. She wasn't sure she wanted to know. She quickly stomped on the feeling of hope bubbling up. It wouldn't help things at all. There was absolutely no way... The thoughts continued, one after another, all negative, all crushing that little hope. It was like Alex all over. She pounced on that thought too, mercilessly crushing it into tiny little fragments so small that they couldn't possibly resemble any semblance of what it was supposed to be. She swallowed.
"I am?" she asked, voice rather light. She nudged her lip with her teeth, feeling the stinging throb of broken skin. She reached a finger up, prodding it gently, feeling a rather unpleasant hole from where her tooth had cut inward. Wonderful.
» She winced as he carefully dabbed at her lip, breath ghosting over the tissue. When he had gripped her chin, she had completely froze, not daring to move a muscle, twitch her fingers. Not even shift her gaze, which was currently locked on Theo's own. She pushed the saliva down her throat again. Man her throat was dry all of a sudden. She shivered. Theo had moved the tissue now. Why wasn't he backing away? If it was even possible, Jessie's posture tensed even more. 'Oh,' she thought, 'that's why.'
» Before she could breathe, he was distanced from her. She felt her cheeks burn, and she ducked under her hair again, emitting a small squeak as she did so. "Er, where to next?" she whispered, voice shaking slightly.

Theo put a hand to his lip, hardly breathing while he waited for her to respond. He was grateful that she didnt mention it, in a way. A thousand, 'Im sorrys' and 'I didnt mean to's' were floating around in his terribly confused brain and he didnt think he could handle much more. Ah... He looked around for something to say and then rather unceremoniously thrust the tissue at her with a terribly apologetic look on his face. [/b] Keep pressure on it, to stop the bleeding you know.[/b] He probably wouldnt ever trust himself again in this department. Perhaps he was fated to die alone, or at least die as the creepy old man at the end of the block who shunned human interaction and had everything mailed to him. Well we could keep looking for your horse if you want? He suggested halfheartedly. He was sure the horse was here, Arrowfield was a prestigeous place, the equine department never missed a step. Ah he had to let one of them loose or he would rather likely explode from all the pressure. Im sorry, that was uncalled for really- He broke himself off before a soliloquy about his personal life started filling the air. He regrouped and tried to be himself, like he was with his friends. He wanted her to like him. He didnt know why he did, but certainly did. They reached the end of the first stable, and the doorway looked out upon a dying sunset. Its really beautiful out here. Thats why I love it so much. Honesty trip much? Why was he seeing rainbows and more importantly why was he speaking in rainbows? Maybe sometime you and I could come draw or paint out here. Ive been thinking about it but never had the motivation. He smiled, desperatly trying to regroup the casualness of the conversation. ooc: I think they could really do with an IM conversation, so that they can get to know each other more. They seem to be having a difficult time here and Im loosing muse anyway lol.[/size][/blockquote]

» Jessie didn't hear him. In fact, she didn't hear anything at the moment. She was entirely zoned out, focused intently in her own little world. There wasn't a thing she wasn't considering. Run? Hide? Avoid? Just suck it up and face him? She groaned inwardly at that. She wasn't sure what to do. She sighed, hands fumbling with the hem of her shirt. She should probably do the latter. More benefits, and it wouldn't really help any to do any of the others.
"Umm, no. I can't hear anything, I don't think there are horses in here at the moment." So she had heard him, she realized. "I'm kind of tired, so I think I'll just go back to my dorm and sleep." When he mentioned the sunset, she only 'hmm'ed'.
» Cautiously, she turned to face him. "Thanks, I guess, for taking me around," she said, then added, "even though we didn't really go anywhere." She ducked her head, chewing on her lip for a moment, ignoring the pulsating throb that sprung up as she did so, then looked back up. "I'll... see you around then, I guess." She smiled smally, the corner's of her mouth just barely twitching upward, before falling back into her usual emotionless frown. Snagging one last glance at him, she turned and left, steadily walking back up toward the dorms.
